Hawk Contracts is currently developing the 18.5 acre site of the former Lister Petter engine factory in Dursley, where we have been commissioned to create a series of plateaus ready for residential and commercial building.
Following the demolition and strip of the factory, the current stage of the project involves bulk earthworks, cut and fill activity and remediation of contaminated soils. Scheduled to take around 12 months in total to complete, to date 250,000m3 of material has been moved. The latter stages of the project will include the creation of an open channel river and stream, as well as drainage and gabion walls to help prevent movement of the land.
Respecting the environment is a Hawk value and a key objective of the project is to keep waste output to a minimum. To achieve this we focus on reusing materials within the site, including soil, as well as previously dug out concrete and factory flooring being retained for later use.
Contaminated material is sectioned off to prevent cross contamination with the rest of the site, with a dedicated remediation and environmental monitoring team completing chemical and geo-technical testing twice a week.
Hawk Contracts has provided a complete project solution with 33 personnel and 22 machines working on the site.
